Working in the human service space

Working in the human service space in a professional capacity brings with it a range of expectations and conditions.  For some this is a comfortable distinction, one that provides boundaries for the professional and the client, one that set minimum standards for knowledge and competence.  However, for others the distinction between personal and professional, or more specifically between client and clinician, can seem elitist or even cold when we’d prefer a friendly connection with the people we are working with.
